Counter tops

With the end wall trim sorted out it is time to make the counter tops. The beech wood slabs from IKEA were easy to cut to size - barring the back strain from the weight of them - and look pretty good in place. Obviously the longer piece needed some support attached to the wall for the end not held up by cabinet.
The two ares that will be laminate for heat and water resistance are made of two layers of ¾” MDF which weighs in even heavier than the beech. Still, a Festool saw makes easy work of it all and pretty soon it was looking quite good. The actual laminate still needs installing but some cavity-cutting is needed for the sink and cooktop ‘tub’ first.
