Lock-up!
11/Nov/10 21:33
While still more drywall work went on in the background, the big news today is that the front door is now in place and the house is locked up. This is great news in readiness for a visit from the bank’s appraiser tomorrow.
Mike the siding guy and crew came this morning to install the last few bits of siding around the front door. Before they could do that we had to actually get the door in place and with six people around there was no problem with lifting the doorframe. After perhaps an hour’s work we had the door in the frame and the trim was going up around it.

Bare door in place
While the siding was installed I got on with adding the strike plates etc and sealing around the doorframe. It looks like the door slab is a tiny bit out of square at the moment, which is a surprise. Nonetheless it looks fabulous.

Outside trim done, we have to wait for some 10ft Hardipanels before finishing the last bit of siding.
Inside, the upper floor drywall is now complete and the taper is starting tomorrow. We even have some drywall in place downstairs.
Lastly I installed the glass in the door and the sidelights but it was too dark for a photo by the time I finished. Tomorrow!
