After raising the bracket the trolley pulls away with mortiser sitting on top. Note the springs (small shiny lines in the picture) I added to the mounting bolts to keep the washers pushed away from the machine body. This makes it much easier to remount the unit later.

If welding gear is available it would be quite possible to make a very neat all metal conversion for this trolley. Access to a chrome plater would help as well.

For C$60 I think this was well worth an hour's work to make. My back thanks me every time I even think of moving the mortiser unit.
